DECAL SELECTION GUIDE

Organic Low-Temperature vs High-Temperature Decals: Which Should You Choose?

Advantages of High-Temperature Decals: Traditional Process, Reliable Performance

1. Inorganic materials for strong adhesion

High-temperature decals use inorganic pigments and glass frit. Under suitable firing conditions, these materials fuse with the ceramic glaze or glass surface to form a strong, lasting decorative layer.

2. High-temperature firing

This process typically requires firing at temperatures above 500°C. The exact temperature and firing schedule depend on the substrate and the decorating colour system.

3. Well suited to durable ceramic and glass products

High-temperature decals are therefore well suited to ceramic and glass products intended for long-term use, such as premium tableware, durable ceramic ware, and glassware compatible with the required firing process.

Advantages of Organic Low-Temperature Decals: Lower Energy Use, Higher Output and Excellent Adhesion

1. Lower energy use and annual production electricity costs

After application to the product, organic low-temperature decals can be fully cured at 160°C for 30 minutes, according to the matched system requirements. Compared with a production setup requiring firing above 500°C and a total firing cycle of over four hours, the lower-temperature process can reduce heating energy and help lower annual electricity costs in sustained volume production.

2. UV LED curing during printing supports higher output

Organic Low-Temperature decals can be produced with UV LED materials. Rapid curing during printing allows work to move on to the next operation. With suitable equipment, artwork and production scheduling, daily output can reach tens of thousands of decal sheets.

3. Well suited to consumer glass and ceramic packaging

Lower energy use and higher output make organic low-temperature decals attractive for consumer packaging production. Typical applications include perfume bottles, spirits bottles and reed diffuser bottles made from glass or ceramic.

4. Can organic low-temperature decals pass dishwasher tests?

Yes. Dishwasher resistance mainly depends on the adhesion-layer and protective-layer inks used to print the decal. Many inks on the market cannot deliver this performance, while our matched ink systems can.

5. Are organic low-temperature decals stable and durable?

Yes. Organic Low-Temperature decals are also used on products from brands such as Starbucks and Sanrio. If you would like to assess the results yourself, simply cover a small shipping fee and we can send you a finished organic low-temperature decal to try and evaluate.

6. Can they meet environmental testing requirements in the EU or other markets?

Yes. We can provide a solvent-based ink system matched to the environmental testing requirements of the EU or your other target markets.
